Avalanche activity is highly variable, both within the winter and from year to year. The temporal distribution of avalanche types over the winter also makes it possible to target the periods when avalanche hazards are greatest. The valley leading from Umiujaq to Lake Tasiujaq is certainly an area that requires particular attention, as avalanche deposits are so long that they run very close to the trail, which, when snow cover is abundant, is not followed by snowmobile users. The Kangiqsualujjuaq sector, studied in its most urbanized segment, has documented numerous cases of destabilization of the snowpack, generating avalanches of modest amplitude, which can however lead to occasional risk situations. On the inner islands of Lake Wiyâshâkimî, several cases of avalanches have also been clearly documented, pointing to areas that should be avoided in winter. These results illustrate the urgent need to extend investigations to other areas of Nunavik, as most of the results we obtained here had not been identified as potentially susceptible to this hazard in previous studies, however brief. Après plusieurs années de recueilde données sur les occurrences des avalanches à partir du suivi par appareils photographiques des versants à Umiujaq, Lac Wiyâshâkimî et Kangiqsualujjuaq, il est dorénavant possible de dresser le portrait avalancheux préliminaire des différents sites. Il apparaît que le rythme avalancheux est très variable, à la fois de manière intra-hivernale et d’une année sur l’autre. La répartition temporelle des types d’avalanches au cours de l’hiver autorise également de cibler les périodes pendant lesquelles les dangers liés aux processus avalancheux sont les plus importants.
