Summary: | The Yukon River Inter-Tribal Watershed Council’s Science Department is responsible for monitoring the water quality along the Yukon River Basin in Alaska. The Science Department maintained their records in Microsoft Excel and wanted to create a web application to edit, maintain, and share their data among the organization and fellow researchers. This paper illustrates a web editing application as a solution to their problem. An ArcSDE database was created to store the data and ArcGIS server was used to publish a map service. The project developed a Web GIS application to edit, view, query, and export water quality sites and samples. The Web GIS application was built using the ArcGIS API for Silverlight. The application adds the spatial location of the water quality sites and related samples, manages the data in a database, minimizes data entry error and allows the data to be shared with other organizations.
