Summary: | Seventy-five rats of which at least 45 are males were collected from various localities in Laguna. To determine the durations and concentrations of brodifacoum to be used in the ' experiment, a preliminary study was conducted using 14 ferule rats. For the Lain experiment, 45 male rats were divided into 3 groups and subjected to 0, 0.001 and 0.0025 percent brodifacoum, respectively. One ml. of t e prepared concentration was given 1,er 100 c of rat of which were fed by gavage. The control was sacrificed 1 day after treatment while the others were sacrificed 1, 4, 7, and 14 days after. Results showed that 0.001 and 0.0025 percent b:-odif.coum failed to inhibit 7itotic activity but not meoitic activity. Chromosomal aberrations such as laggards, unequal separation in anaphase, stickiness, and oblique ana-telophase were induced in somatic cells while no pairing on the some segment was observed in meiotic cells. Differences in chromosome number was also obtained for both treated and untreated rats. The existence of chromosome anomalies in mitotic and meiotic cells suggests that brodifacoum can he possibly used for p:enetic control.
