Development Experience in the Creation of the Module of French for Academic Purposes at the University of Zagreb

International audience A great number of Croatian students do not apply for scholarships in French-speaking countries. The main reason is insufficient language competences. Consequently, the University of Zagreb decided to introduce a module of French language for academic purposes.The paper describes the approach and indicates considerations which preceded the creation of the module: needs analysis, data collection, methodological preparation and analysis… The paper specifically concerns the needs analysis which reveals the overriding importance of socio-cultural competences.The paper also outlines the methodological approach and the education programme with special emphasis given to socio-cultural competences and verbal expression with due observation of three important constituents in teaching of French for academic purposes:-Comprehension of lectures (verbally and in writing) and note-taking,-Writing of academic papers,-Knowledge of cultural facts which allow practical integration with the University.The paper then describes the experience learned by evaluation of classes carried out by students themselves, but also by self-evaluation as carried out, to determine the guidelines for the future. Nombre d’étudiants croates ne postulent pas pour des bourses d’études dans des pays francophones. La principale raison invoquée réside dans leurs faibles habiletés langagières. Suite à ce constat, l’Université de Zagreb a choisi de mettre en place des modules de Français sur Objectif Universitaire. Cet article présente la démarche et les réflexions qui ont présidé à l’élaboration de ces modules : analyse des besoins, collecte des données, traitement didactique… Nous montrerons en particulier comment notre analyse des besoins révèle l’importance capitale des compétences socioculturelles.Nous présenterons également nos choix didactiques et notre programme de formation. Ceux-ci font la part belle aux compétences socioculturelles et à l’expression orale, tout en respectant les trois composantes d’une formation en Français sur Objectif Universitaire : compréhension des cours (tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit) et prise de notes, production de textes universitaires, connaissances de faits culturels permettant l’intégration pratique à l’Université. Nous tenterons ensuite de faire un bilan de cette expérience à travers l’évaluation de la formation par les étudiants, mais également par l’auto-analyse, afin d’envisager des orientations pour l’avenir. Velik broj hrvatskih studenata ne prijavljuju se za stipendije za odlazak u frankofonske zemlje. Glavni su razlog za to nedostatne jezične kompetencije. Temeljem toga, Sveučilište u Zagrebu odlučilo je uvesti modul francuskoga jezika za akademske namjene. U članku se opisuje pristup i donose promišljanja koji su prethodili izradi toga modula : analiza potreba, prikupljanje podataka, metodička priprema i obrada… Na poseban način osvrnut ćemo se na to kako naša analiza potreba otkriva presudno značenje sociokulturnih kompetencija. Prikazat ćemo isto tako svoj metodički pristup i program izobrazbe. U njima se osobito ističu sociokulturne kompetencije i usmeno izražavanje uz puno poštivanje tri bitne sastavnice u poučavanju francuskoga za akademske namjene : razumijevanje predavanja (usmeno i u pismu) te uzimanje bilježaka, izrada akademskih radova,poznavanje kulturnih činjenica koje omogućuju praktičnu integraciju na sveučilište. Potom ćemo pokušati opisati svoje iskustvo kroz evaluaciju koju nastave koju su načinili sami studenti, ali jednako tako i na temelju provedene samoanalize, kako bi se odredile smjernice za budućnost.
