This retreat induces new dynamics in the glacier foreland, especially related to glacial meltwater and recent deglaciated slopes development. Lichenometric measures on moraine ridges and paleosandurs provide the opportunity to reconstruct the evolution of the Morsárjökull and the Skaftafellsjökull the proglacial areas.
