open L'obiettivo di questo studio è proporre una nuova analisi dei fenomeni di Noun Incorporation in West Greenlandic. La scelta di studiare questo fenomeno è legata alla sua natura estremamente complessa e dibattuta, dovuta al suo essere un fenomeno ponte tra morfologia e sintassi. Inoltre, è ancora oggetto di dibattito se il West Greenlandic presenti casi di Noun Incorporation e come il fenomeno possa essere eventualmente formalizzato. L'analisi tradizionale proposta da Baker (1988) spiega i casi di Incorporazione come originati da movimento testa-a-testa (X°-->X°), ma esistono prove a favore dell'esistenza di Phrasal Incorporation originata da movimento di XP. Il West Greenlandic è una delle lingue che sembrano avere questa caratteristica (e.g., incorporazione di un nome e di un modificatore): attraverso dati raccolti per questo studio, sono fornite nuove prove a sostegno dell'esistenza della Phrasal Incorporation. Sono proposte, inoltre, delle restrizioni relative agli elementi incorporati e ai verbi incorporanti. The aim of this study is to provide a novel analysis of Noun Incorporation (hereafter NI) in (West Greenlandic. The choice to study this phenomenon is linked to its highly debated and complex nature due to its bridging between morphology and syntax: it is still a matter of debate whether West Greenlandic has Noun Incorporation or not and how the phenomenon could be formalized. In detail, the traditional account proposed in Baker (1988) explains NI phenomena as originated by head-to-head movement (X°-->X°).
