My dear Mr. Muir:-I was very sorry indeed to learn from your friend the Reverend Mr. Young that you ellizabel unable to visit me at my camp in Alaska, and now that I have received your letter I am writing to tell you how sorry I am that your contemplated trip had to be postponed, so that you were deprived of seeing the wonderful Copper River glaciers, and I missed the opportunity of making your acquaintance, I hope some time that I can meet and know you.I wonder if it would be possible for you to present the University of Wisconsin with one of your pictures. I should be very glad to have a photograph of John Muir to hang in Science Hall where the many students who know of Muir Glacier and of your studies in Alaska and California could see your likeness.Very sincerely yours,I.M-D. 04883 Text glacier glaciers Alaska University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law: Scholarly Commons |
