It is all right, and the country will say so when it is published. The original manuscript will be duly returned to you when the article has appeared. I am very sorry that I cannot join you and Sargent and go to Alaska, for I understand that now is the time to go to that golden land, but I am an unlucky dog and must go in the other direction, sailing on the 21st of August, according to our present plan. My object is to accompany Mrs. Johnson to Paris to put Agnes in a French school. I have nearly completed a new book of poems; in fact it is all printed except the last piece, upon which I am now engaged. It will not appear until October. When are you going to print a book on the glaciers of Alaska, or one on your scientific observations in the Sierra? Give my kindest regards to Mrs. Muir and the childrenand believe meVery faithfully your, [illegible] P.S. My boy goes in a few days to spend the summer with his chum at Minneapolis. 02321 Text glaciers Alaska University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law: Scholarly Commons
