He is fearfully orthodox but it does not hinder his being a pleasant intelligent man. We hope to see Dr. Gray here. With kindest memories from Mr. Daggett truly your friend. Kate N. Daggett. [1] 316 Mich. Av. 17th Aug.Dear Mr. Muir, Indeed we are going to California again and that before long. Jeannie writes that Mrs. Moore went to Hetch Hetcty, what she did I surely can do. My ambition runs not only in that direction and around the rim of the Valley but up, up among [2]the high Sierras, aye even to the [illegible] fields of the eternal snows. Will you be there to show the way? Aye? Then must we hasten for before many years you must be explo- -ring the glacier-beds of Norway and the mighty ice-streams of Switzerland. We are going the last of next month to Boston and [illegible] of that will you do me a favor? Send me a list of the new books [3]you want to study this Winter. It would be a real kindness for you all I should cut the leaves for you and take the first reading and my long absence and the hard, sad work of last Winter have put me quite out of the way of knowing what best merits attention and in this busy life of ours we can only afford time for the best. Be sure you dont forget to comply with my request. 00666 Text glacier University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law: Scholarly Commons Norway Orleans ENVELOPE(-60.667,-60.667,-63.950,-63.950) |
