I also remember your brother [superintendent of pub [public] instruction & [teacher] of Bible class in the Baptist Church. I’ll try to find him. What is his address in Palo Alto & next time I’m in [Pasadena] I’ll try to find your sister. Are you coming to California? If so do not fail to come to my house. Muir Station on the Santa Fe road is [only] less than two hours from our home. With kindest regards I am faithfully yours John M. [Muir] [upper page] fragile Muir Gl [glacier] ever since & [when] I have been busy telling the mourners to dry their tears for gls [glaciers] are less destructible [than the] mtns [mountains] as far as earthquakes are concerned [No doubt a good many bergs were hurried from the fronts a few minutes before their regular time?] Excepting the premature discharges of bergs it can[not] [convince] of [any] no other effects likely to be caused by a shake but I have no authentic information.
