The water, too, was beautiful, [Sketch: To [parallel] [moraines] being reformed - ice supported on [mountain] side] shades of green and blue from vast quantity of [glacial] mud poured into the sea by majestic array of [glaciers]. Mt. St. Elias was clear at 2 A.M. then cloudy, but ere we reached Fairweather its top pyramid rose clear above the [clouds] and remained visible until we were 140 or 150 [miles] distant. Tho’ the sky was clear over Fairweather Range, it remained [cloudy] over St. Elias except the tip top.
