However crevassed the bedding is plainly visible, dipping at angle of about 25 degrees and with the plane of declivity of channel about 35 degrees. Crevasses on snout longitudal and transversal. Boulders of terminal moraine all granite: many large, 20 feet diameter and angular. About half small cobbles and pebbles water worn, contrasting with the all-small and all-washed moraine of Chatham Strait glacier. The more crevassed the glacier the more washed its moraine; the more up-piled and angular the moraines, the less washed; or the higher and larger the terminal moraines, the less-washed. This glacier never was much more extended, ½ mile or so. The more advanced outcurved portions of terminal moraine are opposite the lowest and therefore most advanced of the glacial snout. Highest part of terminal moraine 100 feet at visible of snout foot. Height of snout at sea, 300 ft. Very bottom, perhaps 200 ft. { Sketch } Glacial lakes at foot of glaciers are moraines, wholly moraine in basin, walls and bottom.
