Summary:[2]John Reid has been with us for some time and tells us that Margt and the family all like Crete, we are glad you all like the change although we would be very glad to have had you all nearer to us Mary and her boy has been with us for the last two months, we have enjoyed her visit immensely – but she left us for Phillips yesterday morning – I think she is as well and happy as she ever was – and her boy grows very nicely I expect you know of John having gone on a voyage to the Arctic regions. The last letter I had from him was from Oonalaska harbor[3]in Alaska where the ship Thomas Corwin was taking on coal and additional supplies for a long cruise up through Behring Strait then northward along the Seberion coast – it is now thought that the Jeannette was lost off [deleted: Cape] Point Barrow – I see by the Papers that another Ship the “Alliance” has also gone in search of the Jeanette David is doing a much greater business than he usually does, but at present his health is quite poor, he must surely have a vacation some time this summer – Annie has been engaged in the store for several weeks – and likes the work very well – I expect Emma and the children begin to feel at https://scholarlycommons.pacific.edu/jmcl/34758/thumbnail.jpg
