I hope you are all well and trust the dear boy is growing nicely. A letter from John informs me that he intended to start for Alaska on the 14th of this month he intended to sail on the City of Puebla to Fort Townsend, then he will take the Queen of the Pacifice for Glacier Bay. He also sent a cllipping from a San Francisco paper telling us about others that are going also, I hope he will be spared to come to his family in safety again. I have been reading in the papers about a cyclone that struck Linclon, and I am anxious to know if it came near your part of the city. We have had several great thunderstorms but no great damage has occurred - we are having very hot weather for over a week and it still continuesJoanna is still in Portage and Walter is still in Philadelphia at present she thinks of going to the country with the children for a month or so, as the weather is so hot here - Annie has just received Anita's letter. I am glad to know the storm did not ocurr in your district Annie joins me in love and in congratulations to you and to all the familyAffectionatelyMother Text glacier Alaska University of the Pacific: Scholarly Commons Glacier Bay
