The tundra is cracked in every direction, and slight depressions, or some difference in the vegetation, indicate the location and extent of the fissures, and when traced forward to the edge of the bluff a cross section is seen, perhaps from 2 to 4 ft. wide or more. The edges of the tundra mass and peat seem to be pressed by the expansion of the ice and perhaps also by its settling as decomposition and consolidation goes on, thus giving the stratified peat an upward bend where frozen to the edges of the ice, https://scholarlycommons.pacific.edu/jmj-all/3187/thumbnail.jpg Text Tundra University of the Pacific: Scholarly Commons The Bluff ENVELOPE(-61.567,-61.567,-64.367,-64.367) |
