All the way through the range to the sea 100 miles or more there are no terraced banks, for the way is one grand rock-walled Yosemite valley swept by floods from side to side and all the phenomena fresh and uncompromisingly glacial; only rough boulder cobble lids in the expanded portions, with perhaps a thin top spread of sand. But beyond there are wide roomy portions of the main canon and many tributaries terraced where the lessening water floods have cut their way down through the broad glacial flood on the recession of the ice mantle which here is scarce at all succeeded by local glaciers. https://scholarlycommons.pacific.edu/jmj-all/2435/thumbnail.jpg Text glaciers Alaska University of the Pacific: Scholarly Commons Glenora ENVELOPE(-131.390,-131.390,57.844,57.844)
