very slowly to save the 60 tons of fresh water he had aboard. It was all consumed an hour or two before stopping and salt water had to be used, an effort made to obtain fresh from a stream near an Indian salmon fishery having failed. The boat being chartered by 12 persons at the rate of $60.00 per day to make an excursion to Chilcat, at the head of Chatham straits, to visit the Indian “Chilcats” – for missionary purposes by Drs.
