Shasta is a noble mark for a mtneer [mountaineer] to move to & no thicket or cloud or intervening hill 35 could hide it from one. It is 100 miles away but I will stand upon & with it & in it in less than a measured week The Sacramento at Redding is a noble stream. Water dark colored like most water from slate regions Banks luxuriantly festooned with vines (grape) supported upon Oak willow & [calysanthis] Oaks for 20 ms [miles] of two species.
