BUEL,ASSISTANT EDITOR.John Muir, Esq.,Martinez, California. My dear Muir:Your reassuring note of the 10th of May as to the length of the article on the Grand Canon interests us very much from the statement it contains that you have a great deal of material on the subject. Our publishers are particularly interested, and they desire me to say to you that if you have the material for a book which could also be made a practicable guide-book, by means of appendices, etc., we should like to have the privilege of publishing it. Some such book must be made before long, and we know of nobody who could combine the literary element and the practical element so well as you. What do you think of this idea?Do not forget also that you are to do us a book on the Yosemite Valley of a similar kind. The sooner that book is done the sooner it will begin to sell, and we want both these and a book on the glaciers of Alaska also. Please keep this in mind, so that you may never feel out of a Job!Agnes received your book and kind wishes and was03008 https://scholarlycommons.pacific.edu/jmcl/40471/thumbnail.jpg Text glaciers Alaska University of the Pacific: Scholarly Commons |
