Description
Summary:[letterhead]Tho' I have not been in Alaska I have not neglected glaciers. I was in Switzerland in '96 '97 and '99 and made studies of the Forno glacier. I find the ideas regarding the vertical part of the movement, which I published four years ago, confirmed. I am writing a paper on the subject now and will send you a copy when it is printed. In 1897 I also made a visit to Russia in connection with the International Congress of Geologists and visited the Caucasus Mountains and Mt. Ararat. I made out three glaciers on the latter, and about 1/4 of its surface I did not see. With kind regards and hoping you will be east before longI am yours sincerelyHarry Fielding Reid.Have you heard what effect last September's easthquake ahd on the Alaskan glaciers?02668 https://scholarlycommons.pacific.edu/jmcl/39736/thumbnail.jpg
