He constantly reminded me of your early days in that same region, and in his [Service?] devotion to Scientific pre[illegible]suits. Unfortunately his constitution could not withstand the exposure to which he was subjected and after a few years work in Harvard University the end of what gave promise of a brilliant career came suddenly.045483Since my wife passed away I have spent my time with my daughter on a fruit ranch in Cupertino Canta Clara County.In my 86th year I am enjoying a quiet life for the little time remaining to me.It would give me pleasure to know that you remember me altho you knew more of my brother who was a Professor in Wisconsin University when you were a student there.With most pleasant memories of yourself in your student days and of your scientific & literary work in later yearsYour sincere friendJ.
