Price: $25.00 The 1894 edition of this publication was issued in two formats (see no. 192), sequence unknown. Parts. l- 7 were issued bi-weekly; 8-32 were issued weekly. On the cover of Part I is the imprint: The J. Dewing Company, Publishers, New York and San Francisco; on all others is: The J. Dewing Company, Publishers, San Francisco and New York. On the inside of each front cover is imprinted: ""A limited number of plate proofs on Imperial Japan, India and Satin, and artist proofs to subscribers at special prices."" The partial set of the California Series, at the Henry E. Huntington Library, Part 7, April I, 18_94, (as well as several others) has the notice: ""Proposition from our leading merchants."" Merchants will give ""one of a certain volume of the work, free, when a customer purchases $1.00 worth of goods from him for cash."" Twelve San Francisco merchants are listed; available from each are three different issues. The notice indicates that 36 parts would be available; however, not more than 32 were printed.
