He was based in New York at some point, and perhaps near the Suez Canal. Mother worked in Morris Engines in Coventry during the war, and was a bike messenger during the Blitz. An incendiary bomb landed in their loft and Grandad threw it. My father's younger brother, Dennis, served in India. His other brother, James, participated in D-Day with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment as a Signaller. D-Day was part of a larger set of military initiatives called 'Operation Overlord', which James was involved with. Afterwards, he went back to Brighton Municipal Hospital and died around aged 20 during the war. My father stayed in Brighton on 22nd July 1944, while Dennis was stationed in India.
