The meeting had been scheduled and cancelled twice in the two previous years due to coronavirus concerns. The total species count was 119, including a Sandhill Crane, Prairie Falcon (early for away from breeding area), Winter Wren, and early Snow Bunting. A Limpkin, which had been found in late June at Wehrspann Wetlands mitigation pond in Sarpy County and was still seen through late November in the Wehrspann Lake area, was not found on the meeting weekend, despite attempts made to locate it. Field trips were led by Michael Willison, Gary Roberts, Brian Peterson, and Don Paseka to numerous locations including Marsh Wren Community Wetlands, Branched Oak State Rec. Area, Memphis SRA, Wanahoo NRD Rec. Area, Two Rivers SRA, Wehrspann Lake at Chalco Hills Rec. Area, Walnut Creek Rec. Area, Portal Rec. Area, Prairie Owl Lake near Dunbar, Rakes Creek WMA, Schilling WMA. Boni Edwards and Colleen Childers, members of the self-proclaimed Bird Nerds of Nebraska, were our Friday evening presenters. Our Saturday evening speakers were lepidopterists Neil Dankert and Jonathan Nikkila. Text Snow Bunting University of Nebraska-Lincoln: DigitalCommons@UNL
