Treuer begins by discussing his life as a writer examining writing by and about American Indians and the pitfalls of describing and translating indigenous languages. Treuer reads from Guess Ready Go End Earth, his nonfiction work-in-progress, about Ernest Oberholtzer's 1912 canoe trip to Hudson Bay, and explains his research expedition. Treuer also responds to audience questions about nonfiction survival genre, the character of Oberholtzer, his reaction to Sherman Alexie's Smoke Signals, and the cover art title inspiration of his novel Hiawatha.
