These drifters are suspected to reproduce asexually, maintain buoyancy via gas-filled floats, and establish a surface ocean habitat in the subtropical North Atlantic, equatorial Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico that is unparalleled in the open ocean.
