By testing each of the countries it touches, the pandemic has the potential to create devastating social, economic and political impacts that will leave deep and lasting scars. Vaccine development poses many scientific and technical challenges to achieving vaccines that are safe and effective, which also requires time and resource investment. More than 50 companies, universities and research institutions globally have teamed up in an unprecedented collaborative effort to develop a vaccine to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
