Mizanscena, kompozicijski elementi in montaža so elementi filmskega jezika, ki lahko dramatično vplivajo na naše razumevanje samega filma, saj vizualno podpirajo in dopolnjujejo zgodbo. Sami po sebi ne nosijo pomena, ampak morajo biti obravnavani v kontekstu z razvojem zgodbe, likov in dialoga. Različno izkušeni gledalci imajo različne sposobnosti “branja” filmskega jezika, zato te elemente različno zaznavajo in dojemajo. Mise-en-scène, elements of composition and film editing are the elements of film language that can dramatically influence our understanding of the film itself, because they visually support and add to the story. By themselves, they do not convey any meaning and should always be considered within the context of story development, the character and the dialogue. Different viewers have different abilities of reading this film language and therefore sense and understand these elements in different ways.
