Description
Summary:V nalogi je predstavljen povzetek katastrofalnega poplavnega dogodka dne 18. septembra 2007 in sodelovanje Slovenske vojske v sistemu zaščite in reševanja na območju prizadetih krajev v dolini Selške Sore. The paper introduces a summary of the disastrous flood event of the 18th September 2007 and participation of Slovenian Armed Forces in the system of protection and rescue in the affected areas in the Selška Sora valley. The paper thus introduces the analysis of an exceptional storm event which was registered as the worst of its kind in the past hundred years according to the measurements. The extraordinarily large amount of water struck the region which has never been exposed to flooding before, therefore the consequences were severe and deadly. Entire areas were cut off from the rest of the world and the capacities of the Civil Protection Service were not large enough to cover the need for quick and effective help. Therefore the Slovenian Armed Forces were activated, among other units. Prompt assistance of the soldiers had a great psychological impact on the inhabitants who realized that they were not left alone in their misfortune.
