In the mind and heart, stories act as grounding elements, connecting realms of the physical and imagination. The design and development of an urban relief center, Story House, aims to address the provocation of loneliness—for family, friends, and home—that often accompanies evacuations from rural to urban settings. Evidence for this is found in a literature exploration informed by concepts of worlding, the urban experience, multi-sensory perception, storytelling and the house/home.
