Source : ABES [http://www.idref.fr/033702462/id] - theses.fr, 27/01/2022 This work intends to clarify the concept of democratic crisis through the example of the political crisis that Iceland went through after 2008. First, it questions the idea of Icelandic exceptionality as well as the country's international representations through the concept of Borealism. It then returns to the consequences and political responsibilities of the 2008 financial and economic crisis and the participatory process of rewriting the constitution afterwards, explaining the reasons for its failure. It identifies elements for international comparison, such as the links between the 2008-2009 protests in Iceland and the 2010-2011 global mobilizations, the emergence of the Pirate Party in the context of partisan changes in the Western world, and the evolution of the Icelandic public's relationship to political representation. Cette thèse entend préciser le concept de crise démocratique à travers l'exemple de la crise politique qu'a traversé l'Islande après 2008. Elle interroge dans un premier temps l'idée d'une exceptionnalité islandaise ainsi que les représentations du pays à l'international à travers le concept de boréalisme. Elle revient ensuite sur les conséquences et les responsabilités politiques de la crise financière et économique de 2008 ainsi que sur le processus participatif de réécriture de la constitution organisé après-coup en expliquant les raisons de son échec. Elle dégage les éléments permettant une comparaison internationale tels que les liens entre les manifestations insulaires de 2008-2009 et les mobilisations globales de 2010-2011, l'apparition du parti pirate dans le contexte des mutations partisanes du monde occidental, ainsi que l'évolution du rapport du public islandais à la représentation politique.
