The known ages of chert pebbles from the Tantalus Formation near Whitehorse and Carmacks, which range from the Early Permian to the latest Triassic, diJferfrom the age of Paleozoic chert-bearing units located to the northeast of the Tintina Fault. They more closely resemble the age of ribbon cherts of the northeastern part of the Northern Cache Creek Terrane (Teslin Plateau) in southern Yukon.
