Editorial. Salud y catástrofes mundiales. Pasado, presente y futuro

Se hace un análisis de las catástrofes que han asolado al mundo en los últimos años, especialmente las que afectan la salud humana. Se hace énfasis en la gripe aviar, la encefalitis bovina espongiforme, el ántrax y la actual influenza o gripe porcina (A H1N1). Se reseñan las pandemias de origen microbiológico y las catástrofes y desastres naturales asociados al cambio climático, tal como los ciclones, huracanes, sequías, inundaciones y otras. Se mencionan los incumplimientos a los acuerdos realizados en reuniones internacionales y mundiales. Se aboga por una acción inmediata para detener el cambio climático a la brevedad posible. An análisis is done of the disasters that have affected the world in the last years, especially those affecting human health. Emphasis is made on the avian flu, bovine spongiform encephalitis, the anthrax, and the present swine flu (A H1N1). The pandemics of microbiological origin are pinpointed, as well as the natural disasters associated to climatic change, such as typhoons,hurricanes, drought, floods, and others. The lack of accomplishment of their duties by the governments of the signing countries has made useless those international and world agreements. A plea is made for an immediate action to stop the climatic change as soon as possible. 3 [e-mail] semestral
