The application of two biologically inspired algorithms: beluga optimization (BWO) and the marine predators algorithm, as well as their hybridization, was investigated in the paper. In order to obtain satisfactory coefficients of empirical models, the BWO algorithm was modified by adding a part of the marine predators algorithm that refers to the change of search agents in the BWO algorithm. The new model provides satisfactory predictions of the sound absorption coefficient of open-cell polyurethane foams, compared to experimental results obtained in an impedance tube. In relation to the known empirical models for impedance where the constants are determined by the linear regression method, the hybrid algorithm provides satisfactory predictions of the sound absorption coefficient of polyurethane foams.
