Description
Summary:Ponencia de la conferencia "ASME 2018 37th International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering, OMAE 2018; Madrid; Spain; 17 June 2018 through 22 June 2018" The offshore industry has a significant impact on the globaleconomy and it is expected to grow over the next 4 years. Acrucial part of an offshore structure is the drill string. Drillstrings can be seriously damaged by vibration during drillingoperations. The control of vibrations in drill strings is essential. In drilling wells, this is useful to minimize the risks of well lossand also to improve drilling performance. The objective of thisstudy is to model and simulate the vibrations in drill strings. This is made to know the region of stabilization of the systemand to establish the optimal parameters of drilling which can bemanipulated from the driller console, such as angular velocityof the drill string on the surface and the weight on the drill bit.The simulation of these vibrations is made by solving thedifferential equations that describe these phenomena. Aninterface for the manipulation of variables involved in themodels of the drill string has been designed and shown in thiswork.
