Lack of funds eliminated planned museum space, so much of the collection remained in University Hall, the physics building, and classrooms and corridors of this building until 1909-1910 additions. Major museum acquisitions from the 1913 Crocker Expedition to Greenland swelled the collection and caused a permanent overflow of displays into the halls.
