In this artide we describe two retouched artifacts made of Rijckholt-type flint, mined in the south­ernmost part of the Netherlands, near Maastricht. The first artefact, a blade fragment, was found by the second author at a distance of more than 200 kilometres from its source. A second, complete blade was found at a more southernly location and is retouched along the sides. Both artifacts display a similar rounding of the proximal end in combination with splintering on the ventral side. These phenomena are not necessarily the result of use as a fire-making tool, although they do re­semble tools known to have had that use. Finds made from this type of flint are quite rare in the northern Netherlands and possibly predate the TRB.
