Chart of the Atlantic Ocean covering from the Arctic Ocean to South America and Africa's slave coast and from Cuba and Florida eastwards as far as England and Sardinia. Title in decorative cartouche over a portion of Africa. Includes notations of important ports, harbors as well as comments on ocean currents, trade winds and other weather patterns. Map shows a compass rose, rhumb lines and a sailing vessel with the course travelled by Christopher Columbus indicated by a dotted line. Source of map from historical note below cartouche indicating that Prince Madoc of North Wales was the original discoverer of America, with a reference to page 190 of work containing the map. In lower right margin: "Vol. II. page 3". "West Longitude from London." Scale statement printed to the right of cartouche. Appears in: revised editions of Navigantium atque itinerantium bibliotheca, or, A complete collection of voyages and travels, volume 2 / by John Harris, from 1744 to 1764.
