| Summary: | The maintenance of animals in captivity is a very complicated task due to the importance of adapting to the needs of individuals, thus, it is necessary to study their behavior to define the implementations that will or will not be inserted. The present work had as objective to elaborate a behavioral catalog of two species of Common Tern (Sterna hirundo) and one species of Roseate Tern (Sterna dougallii) in captivity, aiming to carry out changes in the environment to promote animal welfare. The study was developed at the Instituto Mamíferos Aquáticos (IMA), located in the neighborhood of Pituaçu, Salvador - BA, in February and March 2021. This research is based on observational analyzes together with a literature review and descriptive analysis, in order to carry out an ethogram with a total of 40 hours of observation, divided into pre and post-enrichment that will later be quantified and qualified for a characterization of the observed behaviors, enabling the development of environmental enrichments based on their natural habitats and their free-living habits. The results of this work were compared between the individuals under study and their behavior in groups, considering that behavioral studies of these species in captivity are not available in the bibliography, the entire research was based on a literature review.
