| Summary: | The Antarctic continent has been treated under many perspectives, from an economic vision about its resources to those related to environment. This work focuses in a different perspective about Antarctica through the epistemic communities‟ theory developed by Peter M. Haas. With this research, we intend to define the evolution of the participation of the scientists in Antarctica since the International Polar Years to the foundation of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) as well as its contribution to Antarctica Treaty System. Moreover, this work analyzes the Expert Group of Humanities and Social Sciences of this Committee and how its members help to shape the preferences of certain countries in the context of Antarctica politics O continente antártico tem sido tratado sob várias perspectivas, desde uma visão econômica sobre seus recursos, até aquelas relacionadas com o meio ambiente. Este trabalho foca em uma perspectiva diferenciada, sobre a Antártica através da teoria das comunidades epistêmicas desenvolvida por Peter M. Haas. Pretendemos com esse trabalho delinear, a evolução da participação dos cientistas, na Antártica desde os Anos Polares Internacionais à fundação do Comitê para Pesquisa Antártica, como também sua contribuição para o Sistema do Tratado da Antártica. Além disso, este trabalho analisa o Grupo de especialistas em humanidades e Ciências Sociais deste comitê e como esses membros ajudam a formar as preferências de certos países no contexto das políticas antárticas
