| Summary: | More than 85 birds were examined for ticks during an investigation of bird migration in Meyendel (municipality of The Hague, the Netherlands). Ixodes ricinus (Linnaeus, 1758) (the common tick) was most abundant and accounted for about 90% of all collected specimens. Nymphs were seen most, larvae less frequently. Only one adult (a female) was seen, on a lapwing (Vanellus vanellus). Three species new to the Netherlands were reported: Ixodes lividus Koch, 1844 on a bird of unknown identity, Ixodes arboricola Schulze en Schlottke, 1929 on some great tits (Parus major) and blue tits (Parus caeruleus), and Ixodespari Leach, 1815 on a blackbird (Turdus merula) and a bird of unknown identity.
