So detailed study of his labors has appeared before the British public since that time. In recent years Danish, Swedish, and Icelandic writers have dealt with his importance to their own countries. After investigation into the influence that Dr. Henderson exerted upon the countries of Horthem Euporep it is the author's firm conviction that a new studyis warranted "in his own country". In pursuing his researches the author has traveled in many of the places where Dr. Henderson labored. Ho warmer reception was re¬ ceived than in Iceland. To express individually ay debt of gratitude to all who have assisted in the accomplishment of this work both in Great Britain and abroad uouLd fill a volume.
