International audience Off the coast of Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes, France), Lerins islands are considered as treasuresby the locals. Sainte-Marguerite Island (closer and bigger one) is intimately linked to thehistory of Cannes since Antiquity. Reserve today, the inhabitants have a deeply relationshipwith this land. For many of them, it is an “haven of peace”, a place to recharge their selves. Itis an ideal place for fishing, especially at a time when the coasts of Cannes were not easilyaccessible by boat. Lands were lent to fishermen to build temporary dwellings to facilitatetheir work: the fishermen's sheds, the only authorized way to stay long on this island today.The practices have evolved and have opened up new issues. In order to avoid jealousy and tobe fair, the Concelors is reviewing the terms of allocation of these plots, thus modifying theways of dwelling on Sainte-Marguerite island. Au large de Cannes (dans les Alpes-Maritimes), les îles de Lérins sont considérées comme destrésors par les locaux. La plus grande et la plus proche, l’île Sainte-Marguerite est intimementliée à l’histoire cannoise depuis l’antiquité. Les habitants entretiennent un rapport étroit avecce morceau de terre, classé réserve écologique. Pour beaucoup, l’île est décrite comme « unhavre de paix, un espace pour se ressourcer ». Certaines de ses caractéristiques en ont fait unlieu idéal de pêche. Au début du XXesiècle, des terrains ont été proposés aux pêcheurs poury construire des habitations temporaires et faciliter leur travail : les cabanons de pêcheurs,seules habitations autorisées encore aujourd’hui sur l’île. Transmises au fil du temps, lespratiques ont évolué autours de ces cabanons qui ouvrent de nouveaux enjeux pour ceux quiles possèdent. La Municipalité revoit les modalités d’attribution des parcelles modifiant ainsiles séjours insulaires de Sainte-Marguerite.
