Some reflections of the Chilean Delegation Chief to the Washington D.C. Conference (October 15th to December 1st, 1959) are presented. The Antarctic Treaty was negotiated and adopted in this diplomatic meeting. It is analysed the content of its main provisions, especially of its Articles I, II, IV and V, containing the fundamental principles of this agreement. Se exponen algunas reflexiones del Jefe de la Delegación chilena a la Conferencia de Washington D.C. (15 de octubre al 1 de diciembre de 1959). El Tratado Antártico fue negociación y adoptado en tal reunión diplomática. Se analiza el contenido de sus principales disposiciones, en especial de sus artículos I, II, IV y V, que contienen los principios fundamentales de tal acuerdo.
