Summary: | La presente memoria busca analizar la normativa internacional, de Chile y Estados Unidos relativa a investigaciones científicas en la Antártica. Se revisa la normativa de los distintos acuerdos que conforman el Sistema de Tratado Antártico en aquello relacionado con investigaciones científicas, señalando los factores que determinaron la suscripción de estos, y los diversos intereses en juego. A lo largo de este trabajo, se revisa la normativa e institucionalidad de Chile y Estados Unidos relacionada con la Antártica, llegando a concluir que a nuestro país le falta un largo trecho por recorrer, debiendo adecuar y modernizar su legislación relativa a la Antártica. Estados Unidos por su parte, posee un sistema bastante estructurado y fomentado, particularmente a través de la labor que realiza la National Science Foundation. This degree thesis seeks to analyze the international regulations of Chile and the United States related to scientific research in Antarctica. For this purpose, the regulations of the different agreements that make up the Antarctic Treaty System are reviewed in relation to scientific research, indicating the factors that determined the subscription of these, and the various interests at stake. Throughout this work, we review the regulations and institutions of Chile and United States related to Antarctica, arriving to conclude that our country has a long way to go, having to adapt and modernize its legislation regarding Antarctica. The United States, for its part, has a fairly structured and encouraged system, particularly through the work carried out by the National Science Foundation.
