| Summary: | Abstract The purpose of this work is to analyze from a geopolitical perspective how the human beinghas progressively approached Antarctica, from fables or philosophical conjectures thatpresumed its existence, passing through the appropriation of some of its resources, and laterof much of its territory, until our days in which it is a continent regulated in a very particularway. In that transit from a particular interest in Antarctica to humanity’s interest in it,the success of the Antarctic Treaty System (STA) is unleashed. With its flats, sta has been asolution for the administration of the white continent in a stage full of opposing interests,but which have been channeled mostly through science and scientific research. The workanalyzes the relations of power within the sta, the role and effects of Antarctic science, andthe search for the preponderance in the sta by consolidated state and non-state actors visà-vis new state and non-state actors that pretend to have a leading role, and how these relationscan affect the decision making regarding the white continent. It also discusses howsome persons, empowered by their fame and social media, can have a great influence onthe antarctic. Resumen El propósito de la obra es analizar desde una perspectiva geopolítica cómo el ser humano seha aproximado progresivamente a la Antártida, pasando de fábulas o conjeturas filosóficasque presumían su existencia a la apropiación de algunos de sus recursos, y posteriormentede gran parte de su territorio, hasta nuestros días en que el continente se regula medianteuna institucionalidad sui generis. En el tránsito de un interés protagonizado por unos pocospaíses a un interés generalizado a nivel global por el continente blanco, destaca el éxito delSistema del Tratado Antártico (sta), que, con sus inconvenientes, supuso una solución parala administración del continente blanco en un escenario lleno de intereses contrapuestos,canalizados mayoritariamente por medio de la ciencia y la investigación científica.
