Description
Summary:‘Red Ice – White Ice’ is a series of three large format photographic nocturnal images by Wainwright showing icebergs from Disko Bay, Greenland that are lit to give the impression of heat against the backdrop of the Arctic night. Wainwright developed a methodology that enabled the resulting images to signify the effect of climate change and the transience of icebergs. Illuminating the icebergs with the light from a projector, he risked the unpredictable calving and rolling of the icebergs to achieve the images.
