Parler Sung by Mrs. Eli Caudle Greenland, Arkansas June 19, 1960 Reel 390 Item 1 Fair Fanny Moore Yonder stands a cottage all deserted and alone Its paths are neglected with grass overgrown Go in and you will see some dark stains upon the floor For alas it is the blood of the Fair Fanny Moore. To Fanny so blooming two lovers there came One offered young Fanny his wealth and his fame But neither his wealth nor his love could secure The hand with the heart of this Fair Fanny Moore. The next was young Henry of lowest degree Who won his Fair Fanny and enraptured was he An then to the alter he quick did secure The hand with the heart of this Fair Fanny Moore. She was alone in her cottage one day When business had called her fair husband away Young Randall the haughty came in at the door And clasp in his arms this Fair Fanny Moore. Oh Fanny Oh Fanny reflect on your fate And except this fair offer before its to late There one thing tonight I'm bound to secure Tis the love or the life of this Fair Fanny Moore Oh spare me oh spare me the Fair Fanny cried While the tears swiftly flowed from her beautiful eyes Oh no said young Randal go home to your rest An he buried his knife in her snowey white breast. Fair Fanny Moore in her bright beauty died Young Randal the haughty was taken and tried At last he was hung on the tree by the door For shedding the blood of this Fair Fanny Moore.
