The the National Crime Survey questionnaire has added expanded questions which permit analysis of crime victims' perception of drug and alcohol use by violent offenders; protective actions taken by victims and bystanders; and the response of police and other criminal justice authorities to reported crimes. A study of 1984 Alaska felony cases used 1984 Alaska Offender-Based Transaction Statistics (OBTS) to analyze the process of case attrition and charge change between arrest and initial prosecution.
