Cet article décrit brièvement la migration de la danse à claquettes faisant percussion depuis les Highlands d’Écosse à l’Île du Cap-Breton au 19e siècle, puis le retour de ce genre de danse en Écosse depuis le Cap-Breton dans les années 1990. Je réfléchis aux changements qu’a connus cette danse au Cap-Breton et à la manière dont on conçoit la danse à claquettes en Écosse, plus particulièrement aux niveaux visuel et kinesthésique, car il n’existe pas en Écosse, contrairement à l’Île du Cap-Breton, de points de référence et de lignes directrices pouvant soutenir une communauté de danse à claquettes.
